South Africa’s three major timber treatment certification bodies have given the green light to Dolphin Bay’s Pro-Treat digital treatment books.

All three believed this would benefit the timber treatment industry, adding that they look forward to seeing it in action.

“I thought the system was very well put together. It clearly reduces a lot of human error and offers an easy-to-use, intuitive interface.”

Pro-Treat Books is our state-of-the-art new digital treatment offering for customers. It is unique for our industry as it does not work on a single computer or device but is an application platform based on cloud infrastructure.

We presented Pro-Treat Books to the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), South African Technical Auditing Services (SATAS) and African Certification and Testing (ACT) during the month of May.

“I thought the system was very well put together,” said Bryce Tullis, Director of ACT. “It clearly reduces a lot of human error and offers an easy-to-use, intuitive interface.

“The dashboard stood out in particular − providing useful and accessible insights that will help with day-to-day management and decision-making.

“Overall, it’s a very promising tool, and I can see the value it would bring to the industry,” he said.

“I am excited to see it working in the field… I will keep you updated on my findings,” said Antonie Jordaan, SATAS General Manager.

Dolphin Bay felt it was important to get the certification bodies’ endorsement before rolling out Pro-Treat Books to the market so that when they audit a plant, they do not encounter an unknown product, explained Bertus.

“We have been live-testing Pro-Treat Books with treatment data from several customers and are now making the digital treatment books available to our customers,” he said. “We look forward to introducing Pro-Treat to each one of you.”
