PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To accurately analyze various samples thought the Groundwood Mill on a routine basis and to accurately report results for the purpose of process control and sales.
REPORTING TO Shift Supervisor
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse samples using analytical techniques
- Operate complicated laboratory equipment
- Evaluate the quality of results obtained prior to the reporting and to take relevant actions on deviations
- Calibrates and verifies accuracy of all relevant equipment prior to commencement of shift
- Comply with all ISO methods for the test performed
- Analyse and report special samples requested by the plant
- Enter results into the computer using LIMS software program
- Accountable for the correct use of PPE, housekeeping and general safety applicable to task performed
- Check stock level for all solutions/consumables and report to the Senior Lab Technician
- Report problems with samples or results to Shift Supervisor.
KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
- Analytical accuracy
- Good Communication
- Teamwork
- Computer literate (Microsoft Excel and word).
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 (Math's and Physical Science) or N3 Pulp and Paper
- Chemistry or Lab related qualification will be advantageous
- 1 year Laboratory/ Pulp and Paper industry experience will be an advantage.
