PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The incumbent in this position identifies, marks, weighs and records all web sets off the
winder according to set standards and procedures so that production details are readily
available on a continuous basis.
REPORTING TO the ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT : PRODUCTION
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates crane to load jumbos on to unwind stand
- Moves webs sets to scale.
- Inspects webs for visual defects, reports and records
- Prepares /makes up stencils as per MPS
- Records in logbook & computer web number, grade, size and calculates progressive totals
- Stencils on to side of webs accordingly
- Inserts bungs into cores firmly
- Dresses webs neatly with polycote
- Adheres web identification label onto roll diameter
- Measures and cuts cores to specified size as per instruction
- Assists with broke removal, weighing, and the cutting of offcuts and spool bottoms
- Carries out any other duties / tasks as requested by supervision that he has been trained to do.
- Acts as Winder Asst, Calendar Asst, Tally Clerk (PM Winder) or Core Cutter, when required.
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ)
- Understand & comply with all SHEQ requirements of the job.
- Carries out BBS Observations
- Identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards.
- Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Matric with Full N1 Pulp and Paper or NQF level 4 Paper Board or Relevant Unit standards
- Minimum of at 2 years manufacturing environment experience - preferably paper production
- Computer LiteracyOverhead Crane License
- Forklift license added advantage
