You are invited to join the next Talking Timber webinar on Thursday 6 November 2025 at 13:00

This webinar will provide a practical guide to membranes in timber construction, covering moisture control, airtightness, and fire performance. Attendees will learn the differences between breathable, variable, vapour, and stop membranes, as well as monolithic versus breathable systems. The session will also cover fire ratings and supplementary products, proper sealing of nail and staple penetrations, use of tapes, foams, and sealing profiles, and tips for installation and performance optimisation. Practical examples of wall and roof build-ups will be shared to illustrate best practices in achieving durable and safe timber structures.

The webinar is made possible by Rothoblaas South Africa, Sawmilling South Africa, the University of Pretoria's York Timbers Chair in Wood Structural Engineering, Stellenbosch University in parnership with Earthworld Architects and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
