Pro-Treat Is An “Eye-Opener” For Plant Managers

After just a month of using Pro-Treat, timber treatment plant managers are already reporting better accuracy, efficiency, and even cost savings.

“The difference has been huge,” observed Dolphin Bay’s Wayne Driemeyer. “Even within the first two weeks, our customers were telling us what a difference Pro-Treat was making. As the plant operators get more and more familiar with the system, we expect thing to improve even further.”

Emanuel Pieterse, Plant Manager at MTO George, reported that Pro-Treat is giving “very good insights, and it’s very reliable.”

The real test lies in the efficiencies, and Pro-Treat is passing this test with flying colours, Emanuel says. “We now have accurate data on our treatments and our chemical usage, which we didn’t have before, so it’s definitely saving us money.”

Like the operators, plant managers are enjoying the benefits of digitisation. “It’s so much better,” said Emanuel. “In the past I would use paper records to populate my own plant management reports. Now when it comes to reporting time, I can easily draw that data from the system.”

The system’s dashboard reveals all the plant’s treatment statistics, enabling plant managers to identify trends and patterns, and finetune their processes accordingly.

As a cloud-based system, Pro-Treat also allows plant managers to monitor their teams’ processes remotely. “Personally, I tend to use Pro-Treat on my computer because I’m mostly in the office during the day,” said Emanuel. “But I also have remote access on my phone, so I can travel when I need to and access my plant at the touch of a button.”

 Emanuel’s verdict? “It’s been eye-opening,” he said. “I honestly didn’t think that there were such brilliant systems available in South Africa. You get so used to what you have, and you don’t always know that there’s something so much better out there.”
